National Anti-Ragging Helpline : 1800 180 5522 (24 x 7 Toll Free Number) and Email: helpline@antiragging.in
Dear Students,
The first-year students of the PGDM 2025–27 batch have recently joined MDI Murshidabad. As mandated by law and institutional values, it is our collective responsibility to ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all members of our academic community.
Please note: MDI Murshidabad has a Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging.
To ensure compliance, the institute has constituted the following as per UGC/AICTE regulations:
- Anti-Ragging committee
- Anti-Ragging Squad
- Student Disciplinary & Counselling Committee
- Student Grievance Redressal Committee
For Second-Year Students (PGDM 2024-26):
You are expected to:
- Extend a warm welcome to your juniors and help them adjust to the MDI ecosystem.
- Refrain from any act or behaviour—verbal, physical, or psychological—that causes discomfort or distress to any first-year student.
- Not be a silent bystander to any instance that may be interpreted as ragging or harassment. It is your responsibility to report such actions.
- Remember: Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and will attract severe disciplinary action.
Let us lead by example in upholding the dignity and values of MDI Murshidabad.
For First-Year Students (PGDM 2025-27):
- Your seniors are here to support and guide you. Feel free to engage with them, but only in a mutually respectful and friendly manner.
- If you ever feel uncomfortable during any interaction, assertively express your disapproval.
- Participation in club or student activities is entirely voluntary. No one can force you.
- If you experience or witness any behaviour that feels coercive or degrading, please report it immediately to:
- Hostel Wardens / Superintendents
- Anti-Ragging Committee or Squad
- Student Counselling Committee
Your identity will be kept strictly confidential.
Understanding Ragging
- Ragging is any aggressive or non-consensual interaction where a senior (or group) attempts to exert dominance over a junior.
- What may appear harmless to some can be deeply offensive or traumatic to others—especially in a diverse community.
- Ragging is not a form of bonding, boldness, or talent discovery. It undermines individuality, suppresses creativity, and can cause lasting psychological harm.
- The idea that ragging builds camaraderie is a myth. True friendships are based on mutual respect and shared values—not fear or subjugation.
Appeal to All Students
We urge every student to play an active role in making MDI Murshidabad a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space for all. The responsibility of ending ragging lies with each one of us—not merely through compliance, but through conscious action and solidarity with our peers.
Let us work together to foster a harmonious and respectful campus culture.
With best wishes,
Chief Administrative Officer
MDI Murshidabad
