Mr. Nikesh Mahajan is a Global Development and Climate Finance professional currently serving with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), a treaty-based intergovernmental organisation launched by India and France. In his role as an International Civil Servant, he contributes to the design and implementation of multi-country financing platforms aimed at accelerating solar deployment and advancing energy transition objectives in emerging and developing economies.

At ISA, Mr. Mahajan is responsible for the design and operationalisation of flagship initiatives, including the Global Solar Facility, Africa Solar Facility, multi-country Asset Monetisation Platform, and the Africa Solar Agri Pumps initiative. His work involves close engagement with governments, policymakers, multilateral institutions, development finance institutions, and development partners on programme architecture, institutional governance arrangements, and decision-making frameworks for public and quasi-public financing platforms. His focus is on aligning policy objectives with robust operational structures that enable scalable, sustainable, and market-responsive outcomes.

Prior to ISA, Mr. Mahajan brings extensive experience from the power and renewable energy sector, having held senior responsibilities at The Tata Power Company Limited, where he supported policy-linked investment decisions, restructuring initiatives, and governance processes across the energy sector. Earlier, he worked with Fortum in India and Finland, contributing to international energy transition initiatives through strategic planning, cross-border partnerships, and programme development.

An alumnus of Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, Mr. Mahajan brings to the Board deep perspectives on public institution design, policy implementation, and development-oriented programme governance, with particular relevance to leadership and management education in sustainability-linked and infrastructure sectors.
