Shri Asheesh Pandey has a distinguished professional career spanning over 27 years in the banking sector, during which he has handled a wide and diversified portfolio covering Credit, Credit Monitoring, Treasury & Merchant Banking, Foreign Transactions & Joint Ventures, Marketing & Customer Relationships, and Banking Operations.

He is a Mechanical Engineer (Hons.) and holds a Post Graduate Degree in Management (Hons.) with specialization in Finance and Marketing. Shri Pandey is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and holds NSE certifications in Life and Non-Life Insurance, Mutual Funds and De-mat Operations. He is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore, having completed the Executive Leadership Programme and has further enhanced his leadership and strategic capabilities through the Directors’ Development Programme 2023 conducted by Egon Zehnder in collaboration with Harvard Business Publishing, as well as the Executive Programme in Strategic Digital Marketing & Analytics (2023) from IIM Rohtak.

Shri Pandey began his banking career with Corporation Bank at its Industrial Finance Branch, Mumbai and later served in the Investment & International Banking Division. In the early years of his tenure with Union Bank of India, he played a pivotal role as Project Manager in establishing the Bank’s Insurance and Mutual Fund businesses.

He subsequently served at the Bank’s Industrial Finance Branch, Mumbai, headed SARAL (Systematic Appraisal and Risk Assessment of Loan) at Mumbai and later took charge as Head of the Chairman’s Secretariat. As part of his leadership journey, he was appointed Regional Head (Deputy General Manager) for Rajasthan State, Jaipur, where he delivered strong all-round business performance.

On his elevation to General Manager, Shri Pandey assumed charge as Head of the Credit Monitoring and Restructuring Department, leading a comprehensive transformation of credit portfolio monitoring through the deployment of data analytics, predictive modelling, robotic process automation, and machine learning tools.

Upon his promotion to Chief General Manager, he was entrusted with the critical responsibility of Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the amalgamated entity. In this role, he spearheaded large-scale process re-engineering, harmonisation, automation and digitisation initiatives. Under his leadership, the Bank implemented several pioneering digital and operational initiatives, including WhatsApp Banking, e-Nomination, Online Death Claim Settlement Portal, Cheque Book Tracking, CASA Dormancy Churn Models, Video KYC, Robotic Process Automation across operations, Doorstep Banking, Digital Document Execution, Digi Connect (Cashless & Digital Branches), My Diary Portal (Intranet Knowledge Platform), Positive Pay System, and Automated 360-Degree Account Statements, among others.

Shri Pandey was a key member of the Bank’s leadership team that successfully steered the amalgamation and digitisation initiatives. He has also served as Nominee Director on the Board of PSB Alliance Pvt. Ltd., a company floated by the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) along with select Public Sector Banks.

He joined Bank of Maharashtra as Executive Director on 31 December 2021, where he also served as Chairman of The Maharashtra Executor & Trustee Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank. Additionally, he served as President and Trustee representing the Bank in Gramin Mahila Va Balak Vikas Mandal (GMBVM) and as Chairman & Trustee of Mahabank Agricultural Research and Rural Development Foundation (MARDEF) from 28 February 2024 to 29 September 2025.

Shri Asheesh Pandey assumed charge as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank of India on 30 September 2025. Presently, he is a Director on the Board of Union Bank of India (UK) Ltd., Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Retail Banking, and a member of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), and Management Development Institute Society (MDI Society).
